Torrentfreak.com reports that the shareaza.com domain is no longer in the hands of the team behind shareaza p2p client.
I went to check up on it and the site is using the same logo art available in the original version and “looks” somewhat familiar because of that.
Went on to follow the lose strings and found some connections that some people might find interesting:
- the version jumps from the current and actual version 2.3.* to the 4th version.
- if you download the file and check the properties, you can see it is now developed by MusciLab, Llc.
- to contact musiclab llc you can do so through kdemarco@mprm.com
- mprm.com is actually a Public Relations company.
- the License Agreement mentions MusicNet and AMG Data
- one of musicNet’s partners is iMesh.
- imesh currently sports a very similar look to the one of the fake shareaza.
- http://www.shareaza.com/eula.shtml, http://imesh.com/eula.shtml and http://www.bearshare.com/eula.shtml have a very similar look too and coincidence or not they have the same inappropriate jokes in the E.U.L.A..
- mind you that these sites are all coming from the same server(207.232.22.55).
- one of musicNet’s partners is iMesh.
The official forums have some more detailed information on this:
